Weekend To Remember

My husband and I get to have a little vacation. I’m SO excited about it. It’s a little marriage seminar, a weekend to remember, which we have gone to before and it was great. We will be leaving on our 8 year anniversary April 14th. We will be back the following Monday. Our vacation is up to Lake Tahoe…neither of us have ever been. It will be a nice get away and reconnect and renew.

Living Springs Christian School Fundraiser

My oldest girl Kaylie goes to a private school here in Running Springs. It’s a great school! I did a fundraiser for them. It was a discounted mini session they got 1-8×10 and over 1/2 the package amount went to the school. Here are a couple of images from the mini sessions.

My Easter

Ok, so my self assignment went okay. I didn’t do as good as I would have hoped. It was hard to be the “magazine” photographer with 2 kids and around a pool for Easter. The image I did take are of us decorating things. This year as a family we made Easter bonnets and decorated Easter eggs for the Easter bunny to hide. We did have a great time.

Today we will hunt for eggs with the kids, find easter baskets and enjoy family. Please let us all remember why we celebrate easter. Jesus has risen! We are set free and we are loved. He has risen indeed.

Easter assignment

I have decided to give my self an assignment. I am going to capture my families Easter like it has fallen out of a magazine. You know when you look in a magazine and the colors are so vibrant and the details are so sharp. People are laughing and enjoying what ever it is they are doing… This is my assignment…lets see if I ace it! Stay tuned to My Easter Assignment.

New Obsession

So my new obsession is finding props. I have started being on the hunt for things that little girls can play with and be intrigued by in my sessions with them. New fun back drops and chairs. I find it SUPER hard to find many things for boys…but believe me I’m on the hunt.

I would also encourage you to bring something that is “you” to your photo sessions. Maybe y our sons favorite baseball bat, or your daughters most special teddy bear. Parents can get in on this too! If dad is a fireman, bring his turnouts or if mom is a pastry chef she can bring her cooking utensils. Things like this make the family portrait more personal. I do have some props…but I’m not going to have those special items that you hold dear to your hearts.

I enjoy gardening! Winter up here in the mountains sometimes seem long and looking out my front window all is see is my very sad gardens, dead grass and LOTS of snow. By this time every year I am wishing I lived down the hill because it’s so green and things are starting to bloom. One all the snow is gone and after mother’s day, it’s usually safe to start planing flowers.

I look forward to seeing my garden and grass again. Making the land around my home bright, cheery and full of color is so much fun for me!

Something you didnt know about me.

I’ve been talking with other photographers and talking with them I have decided that my blog should not be all about my business. It needs to be about me to. Not just the artist that I am but the person that I am. So, I’m going to start posting things that have nothing to do with my art, but just about me.

Today my not so well known about me information is that I do NOT like Chocolate. Yep, I know. Weird. I like white chocolate and I do like Rocky Road Ice cream, not the Haggen-Dazs kind because they are not real marshmallows but marshmallow swirls, it’s just not the same. I can eat about 1/2 a snickers bar…and even that is to much chocolate.

So, there you have it. =)

Edward Dean Museum

Last sunday the 14th, I was asked to participate in the Edward Dean Museum bridal show. It was so great. Terri, the director there, is so super sweet. I was actually the only photographer with a table set up there. They had a fashion show with David’s Bridal towards the end of the show. Here are a few of the images from that show. Lots of fun.

I’m so very excited. I will be leaving today to go to the WPPI convention in Vegas. Large trade show, lots of mini learning sessions. I can not wait.
